Starring Kate Winslet as a femme fatale Myrtle “Tilly” Dunnage, a glamorous woman, who returns to her small town in rural Australia to take care of her ailing, mentally unstable mother. With her sewing machine and haute couture style, she transforms the women and exacts sweet revenge on those who did her wrong. Yet as she tries to reconcile with her mother, she starts to fall in love while transforming the fashion of the town. The film explores the themes of revenge, love and creativity. “The Dressmaker” will premiere in September at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival and it’s set for release October 22 in Australia. We’ll have to wait and see what the official U.S. date turns out to be.
