Interview with Kevin Louis White.

Kevin was born in San Diego California. He was discovered in a local shopping mall when he was asked “Do you want to model?” He began to reach out to photographers in the community and the rest is history. He made his television debut on ABC’s Last Resort Jeffrey Chaplin, The son of main character Cpt. Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher). He served 6 years in the US Navy then moved to Los angeles California and was immediately picked up by The Park Noack Agency across the board. He can speak fluent Mandarin Chinese, practices Hu-Gar Kung Fu, and is a fan of all things outdoors.

Matthew (at Consort News): How did you feel when you did your first ever fashion show or photo shoot?

Kevin: My first photo shoot was back in 2008 with Robert Benson.. I had no idea what I was doing or how to model/pose but it turned out to be a great experience. I was really big into break dancing at the time and what was a photo shoot actually felt like a half hour break dancing session. It’s still one of my favorite photo shoots to date.

Matthew: What has been your favorite shoot / campaign / project – to date?

Kevin: That’s a really hard question.. But I would say it’d have to be a project I did with Melchor Ruiz.. working with him was like “Posing Boot camp”. In ridiculously tough positions for what seemed like forever. I learned a lot of about the aesthetic value of lines and body positioning and still use his tips today.

Matthew: Do you get to travel a lot for your work? If so what’s your favorite city that you have visited? And why?

Kevin: I flew to Kauaii, Hawaii for a shoot with Vogue photographer Jim Jordan.. I loved that place.. secluded beaches and awesome weather. I’d love to go again.

Matthew: The weirdest experience/ thing you have experienced while working in the modeling industry?

Kevin: Wouldn’t call it too “weird” but I remember NYE 2012 in Honolulu, Hawaii, I was walking for Reyn Spooner in a fashion show and I saw this girl in the crowd crying.. literally crying with her hands reached out to me. I didn’t know how to take that. This show was pretty laid back so I reached down, kissed her on the cheek, and she went nuts. I found out my girlfriend at the time was right next to her screaming to get my attention..

Matthew: Your favorite item of clothing and why?

Kevin: I like shades, watches, underwear and shoes. They tend to be the focal point of my outfits. It just sort of happened that way I guess.. haha.

Matthew: If you weren’t modeling what would you see yourself doing?

Kevin: Honestly? Traveling more.. Living on the go and never settling down in one place. Living on a sailboat would be pretty cool, I think.

Matthew: What or where would be your dream Photo shoot?

Kevin: I’d say Hong Kong. A fitness shoot on the busy streets. Me using the city as a gym with chaos going on in the background.

Matthew: And advice to give aspiring models?
Kevin: Get OUT there and create. Always be creating. Even if it’s only you taking selfies in the beginning. Put yourself out there.
