Award Winning Stars illuminate the Autumn Nights of Hollywood at the Governors Awards Consort News November 13, 2017 Actors, Actress, Events, Featured News, Film and TV On Saturday evening, the red carpet was once more rolled out to grace the illuminaries of stage and screen at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences’ 9th Annual Governors Awards and proved to be a red carpet to remember! Jennifer Lawrence James Franco Emma Stone The event, which is one of the first ceremonies of the season, is an annual award ceremony hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), at the Grand Ballroom of the Hollywood and Highland Center, and presents three awards that signify lifetime achievement within the film industry – the Academy Honorary Award, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, and the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award. This year’s recipients of the Governors Awards from the motion picture academy were director Charles Burnett, cinematographer Owen Roizman, actor Donald Sutherland, and documentarian Agnes Varda. Donald Sutherland, who at 82 still maintains a busy schedule that would drain some people half his age was suitably humbled and appreciative to be presented with his award by Jennifer Lawrence, his co-star in Hunger Games. Colin Farrel, Angelina Jolie, Gene Chang & Angelina Jolie, Andrew Garfield and Emma Caulfield. As to be expected, the stars dazzled in an array of gowns and dinner jackets, from Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, to Robert Pattinson. Allison Williams, the Girls star, working the rich velvet look of the season, was resplendent in a long sleeved black velvet gown, split to the thigh, while Helen Mirren, who congratulated Donald Sutherland, on his award, was also suitably seasonal in a gown that sported a rather puritanical long sleeved high necked black top, with a deep lace cuff, contrasted with a full skirt, that was richly embellished in a floral design. Allison Williams Angelina, the Tomb Raider actress wafted onto the stage in a flowing Vintage style cream silk and sequinned dress to present Agnès Varda, the legendary director, with her Honorary Oscar. Angelina Jolie Agnès Varda and Angelina Jolie Agnès Varda, who released her first film in 1955, called La Pointe Courte, saw her most recent work, the movie, Faces Places awarded Best Documentary at the Cannes Film Festival. ‘I never thought that people of Hollywood would like my work.’ Remarked Agnès, and : ‘I really love making films’. To the delight of the audience she then joined Angelina in a celebratory dance and warm affectionate embraces. Other stars in attendance on the evening were Helen Mirren, Jessica Chastain, Justin Timberlake, Sarah Paulson, Andrew Garfield, Allison Williams and many, many more.
