Alessio Benetti’s – Venezia Carnevale Consort News January 28, 2018 Events, Fashion, Featured News, The Arts Wow! Amazing! Stunning! Astounding! I exhaust all superlatives within the first minute of viewing the astounding work of Alessio Benetti Alessio Benetti, the third generation of Italian costume, mask and jewellery designers, commenced his career with a laurea in sculpture (equivalent to a Doctor of Philosophy), a third cycle degree consisting of three/four years of Ph.D.- level courses and experimental work that can only be undertaken after achieving a Laurea Magistrale. His business specialises in designing and creating his own work, as well as offering costumes, masks and accessories for sale and for hire for events, dinners and balls. As Alessio said: “We are a family spanning three generations, hiring out exclusive traditional Venetian costumes at an affordable price. Our staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and are happy to answer any questions about our service. Fitting costumes is very important, and we do it with great care.” In addition, they offer the chance of taking part in the many masked balls in ancient Venetian Palaces, where dinner, dances and games enrich a night unique and unforgettable. He continues: “We can come to collect you from your hotel and accompany you to the location of the atelier to try the costumes on, and we guarantee the best service.” “We also offer a rental service of costumes in stock in Italy and abroad. We specialise in the organisation of events such as Venetian Carnival parties, parades in historical costume and animations”. As a long-standing, well-established and well-respected business, The Original Atelier has collaborated for more than 25 years in the organisation of Carnival events and parties. Passion, experience and professionalism make it one of the most appreciated stores in Venice. Alessio told me that he is based during the Carnival at the Hotel Palazzo Ca Sagredo, campo Santa Sofia in Venice, where he works on his atelier of historical costumes. Although his main home is now in Berlin, where he returns at the beginning of March to work on his fashion designs at his studio in Tiergarten, in the centre of Berlin. His collections cover Gothic, Steampunk, Fetish, wedding and scene jewellery. Unique jewellery pieces include tiaras, corsets, masks, crowns, helmets and hair accessories, while his fetish collection include muzzles, and even nipple covers, that are all executed in the most intricate detail and in quality materials. His corsets, for example, range in price from 490 – 1800 euros, with his top-of-the-range models constructed in burnished metal and handmade in Venice, of Italian quality, or in metal bathed in gold, with both studded with Swarovski crystals. Helmets are priced from 320 to 960 euros, with the most expensive executed in a gold-plated metallic metal with marine-inspired decorative elements: shells, polyps and starfish, decorated with mouth watering blue and green Swarovski crystals of different shapes and sizes. Alessio loves Carnevale time, as he says it attracts creativity and expectation in visitors from all over the world and the celebrations, with their masked balls, parades and pilgrimages in the traditional areas of the town, are par excellence, and the Carnival enlivens and transforms everyone it touches.
