The Brit Awards Consort News February 27, 2017 Events, Featured News, Film and TV, Music It was that time of the year again, the time to celebrate the success of UK and overseas artists at the Brit Awards 2017. This year the awards took place on the 22nd of February at the O2 Arena in London where artists such as Bruno Mars who performed “That’s what I like”, Little Mix with “Shout Out To My Ex” and Emeli Sande heated up the stage. The surprise of the night came when Stormzy joined Ed Sheeran on stage and sang a remix of “Shape of you”. The Brit Awards started hosting their annual ceremony only in 1982 and since then over 300 awards have been handed out. This year the winners were as follows. Davie Bowie took home the award for Best British Album of the Year as well as Best British Male Solo Artist and One Direction despite their time-off managed to win Best British Artist Video with “History”. Liam Payne was the only one present at the awards and thanked the fans on behalf of the band. Last but not least Drake and Beyoncé were given International Male and Female Solo Artist which did not come as a surprise especially following Drake’s success with his UK tour which just ended on the 23rd of February with a concert in Birmingham. Katy Perry which made her first UK TV appearance in three years stole the spotlight on the red carpet as well where she rocked a light pink and silver bejewelled mini dress complete with a matching pink jacket by Versace.
