Screen buddies: Kate, 42 and Jude, 44, who appeared together in 2006 festive favourite The Holiday posed together at the screening alongside host Stephen Daldry

It is the Season to be Jolly, when two of our best British exports,  Kate Winslet and Jude Law, reunite in stylish black for the screening of their new film, Wonder Wheel… 11 years after starring in another festive hit.

As expected, Christmas brings with it a plethora of sentimental feel- good movies, that we all enjoy watching, snuggling down in front of roaring fires, under our fleecy throws,  with a box of chocs.

So, some 11 years after the screening of one such romantically festive offering, The Holiday, starring Jude Law, Kate Winslet, and Cameron Diaz, Jude and Kate once more unite for the screening of their new film, in which Kate stars as a women who is slowly unravelled by a forbidden romance

In that earlier 2006 film, Kate Winslet, 42, plays the drab, “unlucky in love”, Iris – the quintessentially English heroine – who, in an attempt to escape the misery of unrequited love, is tempted into a trans-Atlantic house swap vacation, by her counter ego, Amanda.   This glamorous, super-confident and supremely sexy Californian workaholic, played by Cameron Diaz, has also recently broken up with her partner, and so craves a complete change.

By swapping homes, countries, and even lifestyles, with Iris exchanging her quaint, isolated, rural cottage for Amanda’s super-swish, ultra-modern suburban home, jam-packed with every convenience and gadget, they also re-evaluate what their expectations of love had been.

Iris finds long-awaited appreciation in California with a composer, played by Jack Black, who also feels unappreciated by his partner,  and love blossoms, while Amanda discovers instant sizzling chemistry with Kate’s very own brother, Graham, played by Jude Law.

Now, 11 years on, Kate and Jude turn out, stylishly coordinated in black, for the screening of their new film, to pose for publicity pictures with their host, theatre director Stephen Daldry, in London’s Soho Hotel, and with interior designer Nicky Haslem.

The glamorous pair previously shared the screen when they co-starred in 2011 in a disaster film, Contagion, when they played an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer and conspiracy theorist in a world that is being ravaged by an incurable virus disease

In her latest film, Kate plays the wife of a carousel operator finding temptation and solace in a relationship with a hunky lifeguard, only to find herself unravelling in a contest of love with her estranged stepdaughter.

December 2017 has proved to be an auspicious month for Kate Winslet, as it also marks the 20th anniversary of one of her most iconic films, Titanic.

The heart goes on for Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio, on the screen at least!

No doubt to the huge disappointment of many fans, Kate revealed that, despite her close friendship with leading man, Leonardo DiCaprio, there was no chemistry between the pair off-screen.

Opening her heart to ITV’s Lorraine Kelly last month, Kate remarked: ‘For Leo and I, I think it was seven months of very intense work.
‘We were both really very young, and luckily — and this is the fortunate thing — we never fancied each other. I know that’s really annoying to hear, I’m sorry, but we really never did.’
